Thank you to our two presenters, Ron Painter, CEO of the National Association of Workforce Boards, and Hugh Haydon, Chair of the Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board, and CEO of Kentucky Bioprocessing. We had an interesting discussion about how State and Local Boards are working with partners to help drive a common vision for workforce development, which is aligned across institutions, and aligned from the local, to regional, to state level. Both panelists spoke to the need to take a step back from continuing business as usual, to reviewing overall strategy for the Board from the ground up, starting with whose voices needed to be at the table, and invested in the process.
During the discussion, we discussed some tips to "punching above our weight" as intermediary institutions, and the broadening of our view of partners and variables that have an impact on the workforce system. Also covered were some suggestions as to how Locals and State Boards might connect most effectively to drive alignment around a strategic vision for regions.
This panel has been recorded, and will be available soon on this web site. Our next call will focus on identifying and managing the the different requirements of Strategic versus Tactical responsibilities for the Board.
